“Rima and I thoroughly enjoyed your Cooking Class. You really have a fantastic Burgundy location and recipes. The Class for just the two of us made such a change from other classes where there has been half a dozen or more people.”
Karun and Rima Shenoy, New Zealand.
Lynne and David offer a one-day hands-on Cooking Class in our 150 year-old farmhouse home set in the heart of the Burgundy countryside.
An accomplished cook, Lynne began with classic French cookery (cordon bleu) with additional training at the Bath School of Cookery and the world-renowned Leith’s School of Food and Wine in London.
During this one-day class for two or three people you will prepare a three-course meal of traditional country-style Burgundy dishes. Lynne will explain the menu for the day, essential knife skills and the best type of utensils to use.
Lynne makes the session highly practical as if you were preparing the meal back in your own home. You will take part in weighing, selecting, preparing and cooking all the dishes.
What can be better than exchanging ideas, preparing lovely food and sharing a meal afterwards? The feeling of pride and pleasure in enjoying the food makes the effort all worthwhile.
Typical dishes may include, depending on the season – gougères, oeufs en meurette, salade de fromage fort, poulet au vin rouge, filets de rouget, boeuf bourguignon, courgette roulade, tarte au citron, moelleux au chocolat..
The price for this one-day Cooking Class inclusive of all ingredients, recipe sheets and wine with the meal is 175 euro per person. Cooking Classes reserved for Wednesday and Friday we can start with a visit to the marvellous fresh produce market in the nearby, old Roman town of Autun to select many of the ingredients for the day’s class. The Friday class, to include the market visit, is 185 Euro per person.
We can also combine our Cooking Class with our Wine Tours (click here or on Wine Tasting Tours) to create a magnificent two-day wine and food experience. This two-day experience starts from 370 euros per person.
Our Cookery Class is based in our farmhouse home near the wonderful old Roman town of Autun about 45 minutes drive west of Beaune. We suggest staying the night before in, or near, Autun and can recommend a selection of local hotels and B&B.
We offer our Cooking Class most days between February and November, except Sundays and French Public Holidays, subject to availability. We ask please for a minimum of 14 days advance reservation. Because our Class is limited to two or three people we recommend early reservation to secure your preferred date. On the Wednesday and Friday Class we can visit Autun market to buy fresh, local produce and experience a very typical Burgundy fresh food market full of local artisans.
