2012 Classic Tours

We want to tell you how Burgundy Discovery made it a five-star vacation for us. We planned this as a trip of a lifetime and you helped fulfil every piece we dreamed about. Meeting and talking with the winegrowers, walking through the vineyards, the delicious meals – we’ll treasure the memories. Thank you for your warm and wonderful customer service”.

Malena Brohm, USA

Now in its tenth year, our one, two and three day English-language guided wine tasting tours through Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits and Côte Chalonnaise are popular, informative and fun.

Select a one-day tour visiting cellars and tasting wines in any of the three Côte or take a two-day tour combining two of the three Côtes. Our three day tour offers a day in all three Côtes.

We also offer Exceptional Experience Wine Tasting Tours including a Grand Premier and Vintage Occasion Tour.

All our tours provide guided visits and commentary in English. We drive in our 7-seater air-conditioned Land Rover Discovery through the beautiful Burgundy countryside and stunning centuries-old villages. We take a close look at the vines to appreciate terroir and aspect. We visit ancient cellars and working wineries, see the winemaking methods, meet the growers (we’ll translate your questions if your French is a touch rusty!) and taste superb red and white wine from bottle and barrel. We also enjoy a gourmet three-course lunch, with wine, in local restaurants famous for their typical Burgundy cuisine. We pick you up and return you to your accommodation in or near Beaune.

Thank you for the marvellous tour last Saturday. It was one of the most magical experiences we’ve had while travelling in Europe. It was really first class.”

Mark Escen, Switzerland

"We had such a wonderful time with you on our tour. What an experience....!"

Mike Ojile, USA

On each of our tours the day begins with us welcoming you at your accommodation in or near Beaune. We drive into the vineyards – some say it is like a wine list coming to life – and we describe the day ahead. Stopping in the vineyards to help you understand Burgundy better, we explain the basics of Burgundy – its wine growing areas, grape varieties and the appellation system. We take you through your personal information pack that contains maps, facts and figures, pen pictures of the winegrowers we will visit and tasting sheets for the wines we will taste.

Throughout the day we answer your questions on Burgundy and its wines. We explain the winemaking process, what is happening in the vineyards and wineries at the time of your visit, introduce you to the winegrowers and guide you through the tasting.

"Just to say thank you for a fantastic day on Saturday. This was one of the most enjoyable days we have had for a long time and we learnt so much about the wine. The organisation and your processes are perfect. You think of every detail and make the day a memorable experience"

Mike and Ines Hunt, Germany

Grand Premier One Day tour

On this special tour we take you to Domaines who produce some of Burgundy’s best-known Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines. Premier Cru represents just 10% and Grand Cru a minute 2% of the wines produced in Burgundy and the latter is often very difficult to taste on a day-to-day basis. We will visit three growers during the day and taste a mix of Premier Cru and Grand Cru red and white Burgundy plus some excellent Village wines – described by many as Burgundy’s best-kept secrets.

We drive through Burgundy’s famous wine villages and stop to take a close look at some of the regions best known vineyards; e.g. Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Corton and Le Montrachet. Throughout the day we provide an informative explanation on Burgundy wine.

Also included is an excellent three-course lunch, with wine, in local restaurants famous for their typical Burgundy cuisine.

The price of our Grand Premier Tour is 235 Euro per person inclusive.

Gourmet Grand Premier One Day tour

This is a tour for the foodies! We've combined our Grand Premier tour (see above) where we taste some of Burgundy's top Premier Cru Appellations and Grand Cru with an exceptional lunch in Le Bistro du Bord de l'eau at the Relais et Château Hostellerie Levernois (www.levernois.com). The Hostellerie, whose main restaurant has a Michelin star, is situated in wonderful parkland and we enjoy lunch around the log fire in winter and on the waterside terrace in summer. This exceptional one day tour combines superb wine tasting with exceptional food. Our Grand Premier one day tours can be combined with our one or two day Classic tours, subject to availability.

The price of our Gourmet Grand Premier Tour is 270 Euro per person inclusive.

"We had a wonderful time with you. Your choice to move to Burgundy and do Wine Tours was an excellent one!
